Rule Proposals & League Voting

Good leagues change. Bad leagues change every five minutes.

“Today’s brilliant idea might be tomorrow’s terrible precedent.”

Why We Have Voting Rules

Castle Peak Crusaders should never be afraid to fix a bad rule, try a better idea, or admit that something did not work.

Every owner gets a voice. The Commissioners turn ideas into clear proposals, the League votes, and the majority decides.

Simple enough. At least until the group chat starts.

207.1 Any Owner Can Propose a Change

Any owner may suggest a new rule, a change to an existing rule, or the removal of a rule that no longer makes sense.

A suggestion does not become an official proposal until the Commissioners put it into a form the League can actually vote on.

💬 Commissioner’s Note “Every idea gets heard. Not every idea deserves a ballot.”

207.2 Building the Proposal

The Commissioners will turn the idea into a clear proposal that explains what is changing and what a yes or no vote actually means.

They may clean up the wording, identify conflicts with existing rules, and send the proposal back for clarification before it reaches the League.

💬 Commissioner’s Note “If we have to explain it for twenty minutes, somebody’s an idiot. Hopefully it’s us, because we can fix the rule.”

207.3 Majority Rules

A proposal passes when it receives a majority of the valid votes cast.

Abstentions do not count as yes votes, no votes, or votes cast. If the proposal does not earn a majority, it does not pass.

💬 Commissioner’s Note “No supermajorities. No electoral college. Count the votes and move on.”

207.4 Voting Window

The Commissioners will set the voting period for each proposal and tell the League when voting closes.

Owners are responsible for voting before the deadline. Missing the vote is not the same thing as voting no.

💬 Commissioner’s Note “The group chat will remind you twelve times. After that, you are on your own.”

207.5 When a New Rule Begins

Approved rule changes take effect the following season unless the proposal clearly states a different effective date.

The League should know the rules before the season starts—not discover them halfway through it.

💬 Commissioner’s Note “Changing the rules after kickoff is how arguments become traditions.”

207.6 In-Season Interpretations

When an unexpected situation occurs during the season, the Commissioners may issue a temporary interpretation so the League can keep moving.

That interpretation resolves the immediate situation. If the issue needs a permanent rule, it can be written as a proposal and voted on through the normal process.

💬 Commissioner’s Note “Sometimes we need an answer now and a better rule later.”

One Last Thing...

Rules should make the League better, not give us more ways to argue about the League. Bring the idea. Make the case. Take the vote. Then live with the result.
