Franchise Ownership & Membership

Getting in matters. Staying in matters more.

“Nobody is expected to win every year. Everybody is expected to give a shit every year.”

Why We Have Membership Rules

Castle Peak Crusaders works because the owners care about the League, not just their own teams.

Membership is invitation only. New owners should make the League better, replacement owners inherit the franchise they take over, and every owner is expected to stay involved from Draft Day through the final week.

You do not have to win. You do have to show up.

206.1 Invitation Only

Membership in Castle Peak Crusaders is by invitation only.

There is no automatic right to join the League, and there is no waiting list that guarantees a future franchise.

💬 Commissioner’s Note “Being friends with somebody in the League is not the same thing as owning a franchise.”

206.2 Choosing New Owners

The Commissioners decide who is invited to join the League or take over an available franchise.

New owners are selected based on fit, reliability, participation, and whether they will make the League better.

💬 Commissioner’s Note “We are looking for owners who make the League better, not just somebody who knows what a flex position is.”

206.3 League Expansion

Adding new franchises requires approval by a majority vote of the League.

If expansion is approved, the Commissioners will select the new owners and establish any transition rules needed for the upcoming season.

💬 Commissioner’s Note “More teams can mean more fun. It can also mean two more people ignoring the group chat. We vote first.”

206.4 The Franchise Continues

When ownership changes, the franchise stays intact.

The replacement owner inherits the roster, keeper values, draft picks, records, championships, history, and every other asset or consequence attached to that franchise.

💬 Commissioner’s Note “You are buying the house with everything still in the basement.”

206.5 Owner Expectations

Owners are expected to remain active, manage their rosters, respond to League business, pay dues on time, and compete honestly for the entire season.

A bad season is not a problem. Disappearing, ignoring the League, or repeatedly making everyone else carry your franchise is.

💬 Commissioner’s Note “We can forgive losing. We cannot forgive not giving a shit.”

206.6 Leaving the League

An owner who plans to leave should notify the Commissioners as early as possible so the franchise can be transferred without creating a mess for the League.

Leaving does not erase prior trades, keeper values, draft-pick obligations, or any other franchise commitments.

💬 Commissioner’s Note “Give us enough notice to find a replacement before your team becomes everybody else’s problem.”

206.7 Removal of an Owner

The Commissioners may remove an owner whenever they determine that doing so is in the best interests of Castle Peak Crusaders.

This authority is intentionally held by the Commissioners. They organize the League, collect the money, solve the problems, and are responsible for protecting what the League has become.

💬 Commissioner’s Note “This is the one place the Commissioners are dictators. Somebody has to deal with the headaches.”

One Last Thing...

Getting into this League is earned. Staying in it is a fucking privilege.
